Game Field

  • We are really close to getting the hub finished. “Wood difficult, wrestling time right here”- FireDad

Shooter

  • Got a working prototype shooter (Fly-Wheel), and it was able to shoot fairly high (Even shot at our Videographer Gustavo).

Intake

  • Participated in shadow-boxing our new tool chests

Programming

  • Using last years code as a reference point for this years code.

Team Leads

  • Our team leads participated in advance academics night. This event consisted of our team leads driving our robot from last year. We used the intake and shooter system to have fun with kids ages 4-14. Many of the kids were inthralled with the robot and had a great deal of fun. Thank you to LufkinISD for inviting us to this lovely event, we were thrilled to share our wonderful robot with this wonderful community

Shooter

  • Routed out the 3rd rendition of the fly wheel prototype. Moved fly wheel mechanism and motors to new panel, along with testing angles by removing/adding dowels to the hood. Also routed out intake panels for Monday

Game Field

  • Learned how to use Skill Saw, Paddle Bit, and Circular Saws. Attached the two side pieces and the bottom supports for the monkey bars. Should be completed by Monday

Chassis Crew

  • Started building the Chassis, they are 3/4th the way through and will be done with it on Monday

Programming 

  • Tried to deploy robot to drive by code that they produced. Many complications but its a simple fix that can be done on Monday. The problem was that it the code could not find the ID Spark Maxes.

      • Dan clan is teaching the programming team on how to create a basic drive team program
      • Gonzo observes and giving his input on certain  programming details such as shortcuts that are able to show where lines of code have been used

      • Dan Dan shows the code that determines the RPM that is able to control the velocity
      • Coded buttons that can decrease and increase RPM
      • GONZO CALLED THE CODE FOR THE DRIVE TEAM “DISGUSTING”
          • So there was inevitably some coding clean up. Now its not an eyesore!

These are the events that took place on Saturday 2/1/20:

Programming:

  • Organized the electrical board
  • Ran testing on the lime lights
  • Ran motors for outtake
  • Fixed ultrasonic sensors
  • Started work on the PID loop
  • Testing on shooting design
  • Figured out code to lime light and made it better
  • Calculate how to keep it going to 60 while shooting
  • Now know what number needed to make it work

CAD:

  • Got the shooter side plates
  • Getting the climb plates welded soon
  • Made extra shooter adjusters in a different material just in case other weigh to much.

Mechanical:

  • Got both of the elevators
  • Attaching the side panels
  • Intake finished
  • All mini assembly for the climb
  • Tested the lift design

PR:

  • Chairmans video is finished
  • Waiting to be published

Control Systems:

  • Belly pan onto frame
  • Installing poly carbonate

It’s been awhile since I posted on this blog.  I will be updating y’all on what happened in previous meetings. Make sure to tell everyone that the site is now back up and running. If you miss a meeting, just check the record!

Programming:

  • Worked on lime light
  • Programming a infrared sensors.

CAD:

  • Machined out the bearing retainer
  • Machined out the climb hook
  • Machined out talon plate
  • Machined a shooter adjuster

Mechanical:

  • Elevator foot got completed

UIL STATE COMPETITION

Congratulations Pantherbots! We’re moving on to state UIL competition which will be held in the Austin Convention Center. We will depart Thursday and be back Saturday. All information is added below

Schedule:
Wednesday, May 17th – Sendoff. Meet in Mrs. Segrest’s room at 3:15
Thursday, May 18th – Departure. Meet at the school parking lot near the stadium ticket booth at 1:30
Monday, May 21st – Return at 11:30

Team Update

TLDR; Team is doing great, designs are being finalized; parent meeting has been scheduled for January 26th at 6:00pm.

Schedule: This week we are officially starting the A/B schedule. Please be here on the days you signed up for. It is VERY important that you are here on those days as in some cases you are the only representative from your particular sub-team.

The Full Story:

As of last Wednesday (1/11) the team has developed their chosen strategy. They are pursuing design of a robot that will focus on scoring gears, climbing the rope, and defense. We believe that with the resources available and the amount of time that we have to complete our robot this strategy is best suited to our talents.

Thursday – Monday we are/have been working on designs for the specific mechanisms we are going to need. On Saturday we developed a working climber prototype and today we believe we have developed a viable gear collector that will allow us to pick up gears from both the floor and loading area and then deliver the gear to the ‘airship’ to place it on the peg. The key to all of this is quick turnaround so that our drivers have time to practice. I am hoping that the CAD team will be able to finalize the design no later than Wednesday so that we may being ordering parts ASAP. If we could have two completed robots by the end of week four I would be ecstatic.

Students who are interested in being members of either the drive team or pit crew are being given OSHA vouchers to begin the certification process. They have until the end of build season to complete the certification process (2/22). They will be able to begin taking the written rules test on Saturday (1/21) for drive team/pit crew tryouts. It is not too late to get a voucher.

There is another parent meeting scheduled for January 26th at 6:00.
